Peru: Wiphala

poster created for the exhibit “what comes to mind when you think of Peru?” at the 2016 edition of the latin american design festival, in lima. my best answer was the wiphala, the square flag made of colourful squares which represents the indigenous people of Andes ever since the inca empire period. In addition to its curious plasticity, it’s a homage to the people who once dominated south america and nowadays are marginalized. for the poster, the flag was turned into a pixel display; some of its squares lose colour saturation to write the name of the country.
